EXHORDER's Official Status Is 'Permanently Disbanded'
May 10, 2006Long-defunct New Orleans metallers EXHORDER — cited by many as the originators of the riff-heavy power-groove approach popularized by PANTERA — have issued an official statement in response to persistent rumors that the band will get back together to play select shows and/or record a new studio album. The statement reads as follows:
"In response to all the email requests and offers for EXHORDER to get back together and/or to play shows we would like to thank everyone for all the support and encouragement but EXHORDER will NOT be getting back together. Sad to say, but the official status of EXHORDER is 'permanently disbanded.'"
EXHORDER relased two albums in the early 1990s through the Roadrunner label — 1990's "Slaughter in the Vatican" and 1992's "The Law" — before breaking up, with vocalist Kyle Thomas going on to form FLOODGATE (and also briefly appearing live as the vocalist for TROUBLE). Thomas is now devoting most of his time to his new band PITTS VS PREPS, which he has described as "center[ing] around the truest sound of heavy metal in the realm of old JUDAS PRIEST and IRON MAIDEN."
